SYNOPSIS • CCSE Plus vs

Check Point’s exam 156-510, “Check Point NG with Application Intelligence - Management III - NGâ€‌ is one of three core requirements for the CCSE (Check Point Certified Security Expert) NG (Next Generation) Plus certification.

It is designed for security professionals who “possess all the skills of a CCSE and have demonstrated extensive knowledge for troubleshooting, network planning, and implementing complex configurations of Check Point Internet security solutions.â€‌ There are two prerequisites for this exam: holding the CCSA (Check Point Certified Security Administrator) certification and the CCSE (Check Point Certified Security Expert) certification on the same version.
Moreover, Check Point recommends that candidates have “at least 6 months to 1 year experience of the product on which you are seeking certification.â€‌

This exam costs $150 USD and may be taken from Pearson Vue. The exact version of the exam is “156-510.5â€‌ and is offered only in English.

This form-based multiple choice and scenario exam lasts 90 minutes for candidates from Australia, Bermuda, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, UK, and US. For all other candidates, the exam is 120 minutes long.

The topics covered by this exam include:

  • Identify risks to a network and create a network diagram and a security policy
  • Place security components in a network using VPN-1/FireWall-1,LDAP and CVP/UFP servers
  • Configure VPN-1/FireWall-1 rulebase for traffic management and overlapping encryption
  • Configure Multiple Entry Point (MEP) and Single Entry Point (SEP) VPNs with ClusterXL
  • Install the LDAP server and integrate UserAuthority with the LDAP server
  • Use Check Point's Malicious Activity Detection (CPMAD) to detect suspicious network traffic
  • Use VPN-1/FireWall-1 debugging tools and apply protocol analyzers to capture and view packet information
  • Troubleshoot diverse VPN-1/FireWall-1 issues
