Cisco’s exam 642-811, “Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks� (BCMSN) is a core requirement for the four-exam path to the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification, and a core requirement for the three-exam path to the Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) certification. It is a mid level exam for IT professionals who have the “knowledge and skills necessary to build scalable multilayer switched networks; create and deploy a global intranet, and implement basic troubleshooting techniques in environments that use Cisco multilayer switches for client hosts and services.� The candidate must hold a valid CCNA certification as a prerequisite to this exam.
This exam costs $125 USD. It may be taken from Pearson Vue or Thomson Prometric.
Cisco does not publish the pass score for this exam which can include these types of questions: “multiple-choice single answer, multiple-choice multiple answer, drag-and-drop, fill-in-the-blank, and simulations.� The exam has between 60 to 70 questions and lasts 90 minutes.
