Cisco’s Introduction to Cisco Networking Technologies (INTRO) exam 640-821 is part one of two of the two-exam option to the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. The two-exam route is the less popular route typically traveled by Cisco Academy students only. This exam is an entry level exam for IT professionals who have the “knowledge and skills necessary to describe and identify major network and WAN components, along with their function and purpose.� There is no specific prerequisite for this exam.
This exam, which is available in English and Japanese, costs $125 USD. It may be taken from Pearson Vue or Thomson Prometric.
Cisco does not publish the pass score for this exam, which consists of multiple-choice and drag-and-drop questions as well as possibly a few simulations. There are between 55 and 65 questions and the exam lasts 90 minutes.
