SYNOPSIS • MCPD Windows Developer vs
Candidates for this exam work on teams in medium or large development environments that use Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 Enterprise Developer or Visual Studio 2005. Candidates should have at least two years of experience developing Microsoft Windows-based applications by using the Microsoft .NET Framework. Candidates should have a working knowledge of Visual Studio 2005.

Candidates should have at least three to four years of on-the-job experience dedicated to Windows-based application development and should have worked in the following phases of the application life cycle: technical envisioning and planning, design and development, stabilizing and releasing.

Microsoft requires a minimum passing score of 700 on all exams. The maximum score on the exams will vary depending on the complexity of the skills being measured. There are 50 questions and the exam last 90 minutes. The cost of this exam is $125 USD. You can take the exam at any Prometric or Pearson VUE.

This certification exam measures your ability to develop and implement rich client applications, targeting the Windows Forms platform using .NET Framework 2.0. Skills measured by this exam include:

  • Developing applciations that use system types and collections
  • Embedding configuration, diagnostic, management, and installation features into a .NET Framework application
  • Implementing serialization and input/output functionality in a .NET Framework application
  • Improving the security of .NET Framework applications by using the .NET Framework 2.0 security features
  • Implementing interoperability, reflection, and mailing functionality in a .NET Framework application
  • Creating a UI for a Windows Forms Application by Using Standard Controls
  • Integrating Data in a Windows Forms Application
  • Enhancing Usability
  • Implementing Asynchronous Programming Techniques to Improvie the User Experience
  • Configuring and Deploying Applications
  • Envisioning and Designing an Application
  • Designing and Developing a User Interface
  • Designing and Developing a Component
  • Designing and Developing an Appliction Framework
  • Testing and Stabilizing an Application
  • Deploying and Supporting an Application
