Sun’s Certified Security Administrator for the Solaris 9 Operating Environment is meant for “candidates with six to twelve months of experience administering security in a Solaris Operating Environment.â€‌ In order to take the one exam associated with this advanced-level certification, a candidate should consider holding the Sun Certified System Administrator for the Solaris Operating Environment (SCSA) certification as well as the Sun Certified Network Administrator (SCNA) certification

This certification is well suited to IT professionals who are advanced systems or network administrators in a UNIX environment and who deal with security issues on a regular basis.

Sun certification exams taken after September 1, 2002 are “valid for two (2) years from the date of certification. Despite the two-year validity date, Sun does not presently plan to revoke certification titles already held by a professional if the validity date of a specific certification has passed.“
