Exam 70-536: TS: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0—Application Development Foundation is in development. This Technology Specialist (TS) exam is expected to be released in early March 2006.

Candidates for this exam work on a team in a medium or large development environment that uses Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, Enterprise Edition or Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. Candidates should have at least two to three year of experience developing Web-based, Windows-based, and/or Distributed applications on the .NET Framework 1.0, the .NET Framework 1.1, and the .NET Framework 2.0. Candidates should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.

Beginning with the release of the Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003–related exams, Microsoft requires a minimum passing score of 700 on all exams. The maximum score on the exams will vary depending on the complexity of the skills being measured. There are 50 questions and the exam last 90 minutes. The cost of this exam is $125 USD. You can take the exam at any Prometric or Pearson VUE.

This certification exam measures your knowledge of the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 fundamentals. The skills measured by this exam are:

  • Developing applications that use system types and collections
  • Implementing service processes, threading, and application domains in a .NET Framework application
  • Embedding configuration, diagnostic, management, and installation features into a .NET Framework application
  • Implementing serialization and input/output functionality in a .NET Framework application
  • Improving the security of the .NET Frameword applications by using the .NET Framework 2.0 security features
  • Implementing interoperability, reflection, and mailing functionality in a .NET Framework application
  • Implementing globalization, drawing, and text manipulation functionality in a .NET Framework application
