Cisco’s exam 642-891, “Composite� (Composite) is a core requirement for the three-exam path to the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification and to the two-exam path to the Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) certification. It is also a one-exam update for both the CCNP and CCDP certifications. It is a mid level exam for IT professionals who have the “skills and knowledge pertaining to the Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI) and Building Cisco Managed Switched Networks (BCMSN) courses.� The candidate must hold a valid CCNA certification as a prerequisite to this exam.

This exam costs $125 USD. It may be taken from Pearson Vue or Thomson Prometric.

Cisco does not publish the pass score for this exam which can include these types of questions: “multiple-choice single answer, multiple-choice multiple answer, drag-and-drop, fill-in-the-blank, and simulations.� Note, however, that “Candidates must successfully pass both routing and switching subsections of the Composite exam to successfully pass the exam.� The exam has between 55 to 65 questions and lasts 60 minutes.
