The Certified Internet Webmaster’s CIW Web Developer is an entry to mid level, vendor-neutral, certification for IT professionals who “create and maintain Web applications through programming, scripting and/or server administration.” The CIW Web Developer is also a starting point for the jCert Java Initiative group of certifications. The CIW Web Developer exam was launched in the fall of 2002. In terms of recertification, “CIW exams may be retired for various reasons, including release of a new exam series, changes to related certification programs, or determination by the IT industry that a job role has become obsolete. Once retired, the exam is no longer available at testing centers, although in some cases candidates can still apply credit for a retired exam version toward a multi-exam certification. CIW offers six months' prior notice for retirement of any exam so that interested candidates have time to prepare and take the exam while it is still available.” Job roles of those pursuing this certification typically include: web developer, web programmer, software developer and application programmer. To achieve the CIW Web Developer, a candidate must pass one exam. For more information: CORE EXAMS |
