Citrix’s CCEA (Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator) is a mid level certification for IT professionals who want to expand their skills “required for installing and administering the Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite of products.” This certification builds on the Citrix CCA (Citrix Certified Administrator) certification.
The CCEA got its start in February 2000 and regularly gets updated as new products are released. The program underwent a major change in December, 2003. In terms of exams that get replaced or retired, “When a major exam [i.e., exams associated with a major product version such as 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc.] is released, the previous major exam is discontinued after 6 months. When a minor exam [i.e., exams associated with a minor product version such as those related to service packs/feature releases] is released, the previous major or minor exam is discontinued after 30 days.” Here are more details on Citrix Exam Policies and on the Citrix Exam Release, Discontinuation and Retirement Schedule. The prerequisite for the CCEA is the CCA.
Job roles of those pursuing this certification typically include: network administrators, system engineers, Citrix resellers and business affiliates, and independent consultants.
To achieve the CCEA, a candidate must pass four required traditional exams as well as choose between two tracks. Each track consists of one more traditional exam and an eLearning online course, which has at the end of it a related assessment that the candidate must pass.
