Novell’s Master Certified Novell Engineer (Master CNE) certification is meant for the “industry’s leading integration specialists” who “offer a higher level of support for the environments you work in.” These people are “the multi-vendor, multi-solution specialist of the network industry.” The Master CNE has been paired with Novell’s primary certification, the CNE, for many years. A prerequisite to the Master CNE certification is holding a NetWare 6 CNE certification.

The Master CNE certification is well suited to IT professionals who want to take on high-level job titles such as network architect and infrastructure specialist. The Master CNE designation is achieved by passing one core exam, by holding CompTia’s Project+ certification, and by passing two elective exams.

According to Novell, “Master CNEs possess in-depth knowledge of design and implementation, network infrastructure and network management.”  As such, the Master CNE is up there with Cisco’s CCIE and the (ISC)2’s CISSP as being very prestigious certifications to have behind your name.

As the Master CNE program periodically changes to keep up with changes to the underlying CNE and other advances in the certification realm, Novell recommends that you frequently view the latest Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) information that is available in CNE Net and in the Certification Headline News.
